How to choose where to go on vacation or, better, the destination of your trip!

For this reason, just have an online look at the cost of a trip or at the best times to visit a locality or another. Often, however, the problem is not just technical, but rather an embarrassment of choice, among all the wonderful destinations that our extraordinary planet has to offer. And google or browse the super-saturated photos on Instagram, which show dreamlike places, sometimes in a different way than they are. So the question everyone asks is, where do I want to go? Without turning around too much, that’s the wrong question.

How to choose where to go on holiday: the right question to ask yourself…

The real question that should be asked is: what do I like to do?

And this “simple” question hides three keywords:

Mi: this pronoun means “to me”, so much so that you can’t say “meme” because it would be repeated twice. So you have to look for something in your mind that is for you. Don’t think about going to London, New York, Sharm el-Sheikh because you heard it somewhere or because everyone goes there.

Excuse the digression: I have been organizing trips for my friends for many years ….. and unfortunately, for the most part, they are honeymoons (I say unfortunately because too often it is the only real trip that takes place in life, and even more often it is not even a real trip, I do not know if I can explain ……). A young bride once told me: “But where is this beautiful place called Honey Moon? I always see on Facebook many photos of people who went there…..so we’d like to go there! ”

So don’t let yourself be influenced: the trip is yours, you pay for it (for the luckier ones, the mother or the ex-husband) and you have to live it!

You like it: here we end up in psychoanalysis. We just say that we must try to understand what we really want, where we really want to be right now, where we feel comfortable, relax, or have fun, in which situation we return children and, by the play on words, we rediscover the desire to discover, the healthy curiosity that gives us energy and life. Look for one or more emotions. A good journey can give many, even opposites.

Look inside, then (as if it were easy…..) and try to understand what you want. If you do it right, maybe you will realize that you are not able to do it down to the end….. But in any case, no one can do it better than yourself.

Do: do not go, or stay. When they ask me for advice on a destination they have already chosen, maybe for the usual honeymoon, to help them I need to understand a fundamental aspect: well….you want to go there, but to do what?

“Do you want to spend thousands of euros to find yourself in a place where you have to look on the Internet for something to do that you might not even like to see the tanning museum or some famous work of art that is a bathtub nailed to the wall? ”

In choosing your destination you have to start from this: what will I do in those precious days when I will be there. Don’t get me wrong: this does not mean that simply visiting a faraway place, which perhaps has always fascinated you, breathing its scents, feeling its vibrations, is not already something to do. On the contrary, it is something great to do. But only if the idea comes from this goal. Even wanting to visit all European capitals can be something to do, if you like to see big cities, their characteristics or nightlife, check out the different shades of smog or whatever else you’re thinking.

When choosing the place to go on holiday, practical aspects such as the period and the budget are the main constraints to be taken into account. For this reason, just have an online look at the cost of a trip or the best times to visit one location or another.
